Balkan Insight Publishes Investigation as a Result of a CMDS Project

May 22, 2020

The article ‘Decimated Danube: Sturgeon Revival Efforts Neglect Roots of Poaching’, published by Balkan Insight, investigates the efforts to revive populations of the endangered sturgeon and the effects of poaching in the Danube in Sfantu Gheorghe, a small village in Romania between the Danube Delta and the Black Sea.

The article is the result of the cooperation of academic researchers and journalists in our Black Waters project, a hybrid investigative-research and advocacy project that responds to the need for engaging reporting on environmental damage, corruption and the consequences for social justice in Central and Eastern Europe.
