Kristina Irion Wins Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship

Kristina Irion, assistant professor in the CEU departments of Public Policy and Legal Studies and former Research Director Public Policy at the CMCS, has won a prestigious Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship to conduct a two-year research project on the “Governance of Digital Information.” The project will be carried out at the Center for Information Law (IViR) at the University of Amsterdam.

"Roma Stand Against Prejudice in Hungarian University": a June 14 post on the Wall Street Journal's Emerging Europe blog reported on the efforts by two students of Roma origin to respond to course material they found racially offensive at a Hungarian university with the help of CMCS Fellow Peter Molnar, teacher of one of the students and legal representative of the other.

Global Media and Communication publishes article by recent CMCS Fellow on "Defining the global at BBC World News"

The journal Global Media and Communication is publishing an article by recent CMCS Fellow Lina Dencik, titled "What global citizens and whose global moral order? Defining the global at BBC World News".

Drawing on original research about BBC World News, Lina's article makes the case that news practices are developing in a far more complex and contradictory way than is often implied in discourses on the global ‘turn’ in politics.
