CMDS Participates in EU Research Project on Online Violence

CEU's Center for Media, Data and Society is participating in VOX-Pol, a five-year, €5.1 million research consortium that will focus on researching the prevalence, contours, functions, and impacts of violent online political extremism and responses to it.

Sejal Parmar on “Protecting Journalists Through International Law” in Council of Europe seminar in Kyiv

Sejal Parmar, assistant professor in the Department of Legal Studies and affiliated faculty in the Center for Media and Communications Studies at the School of Public Policy, spoke on “Protecting Journalists Through International Law” at a two-day seminar on the safety of journalists organized by the Council of Europe in Kyiv, Ukraine on 15 and 16 April 2014.

Amy Brouillette for Al Jazeera on the Hungarian elections

CMCS Amy Brouillette contributed a piece for Al Jazeera on the Hungarian elections of the past weekend. In her piece,  Hungary elections: How the media failed the people, Amy describes the current media situation in the country and provocatively asks whether the Hungarian "free but not fair" elections could be setting an example for other European elections.
