Apply to our Summer School on Internet Governance, Civil Society and Communication Policy Advocacy

This year's summer school on internet governance, freedom of expression norms and the relationship between internet companies' policies, surveillance and data requests by governments will take place from 28 June to 4 July at CEU. Application deadline is 15 March.

Monroe Price Receives the 2015 International Communication Distinguished Scholar Award

Professor Monroe Price, co-founder and former Chair of our Center, and member of the CMDS Advisory Board, has been the recipient of this year’s International Communication Distinguished Scholar Award. The recognition is presented on an annual basis at the International Studies Association Annual Meeting to a scholar whose work has made a substantial impact in the area of international communication in the context of international studies.The 2015 Distinguished Scholar Award recipient, Monroe Price was selected not only for his exemplary scholarship, but for his mentorship of new and emerging scholars of international communication from around the world.

Dr. Helen Margetts Shares Findings on How Social Media Is Transforming Politics

During a public lecture hosted by CMDS on February 9, Professor Helen Margetts explored how social media is transforming collective action. Margetts, who is Director of the Oxford Internet Institute and Professor of Society and the Internet at the University of Oxford, noted that the percentage of people who are online continues to rise—in all parts of the world. The use of social media is also increasing, providing enhanced opportunities for more people to participate in politics.
