Parmar on the Internationalization of Black Lives Matter at the Human Rights Council

“‘Black Lives Matter’ resonated at the Human Rights Council on 17 June during the urgent debate on the ‘current racially inspired human rights violations, systemic racism, police brutality and violence against peaceful protests’,” our Fellow, Sejal Parmar writes in her post published as part of EJIL: Talk! (European Journal of International Law's Blog) Symposium on Black Lives Matter.

One of the key things the resulting Human Rights Council resolution addresses is the use of excessive force by law enforcement during extraordinary anti-racism protests, including against journalists.
