CMDS Welcomes Doctoral Students Visiting from the University of Vienna
The Center for Media, Data and Society received the visit of a group of doctoral students from the University of Vienna, led by Katharine Sarikakis, professor at the university’s Department of Communication. The visit aimed to offer the opportunity for external media scholars to get to know the Central European University’s academic environment, but also to get acquainted with the center’s research projects.The group attended the course Introduction to Global Media and Communication led by prof. Phil Howard, director of CMDS. The course hosted a discussion on the center’s work on the Hungarian media laws, published in 2012.
Amy Brouillette, Eva Bognar, and Joost van Beek, researchers involved in the center’s Hungarian Media Laws and Hungarian Media Monitor projects, gave a presentation on the practical, theoretical and ethical aspects of producing policy relevant media in a tense political environment.
