On the Right to Know Day, HRSI, CMCS, OSA and OSJI will promote the individual right of access to information and open, transparent governance. It is a day on which freedom of information activists from around the world raise awareness about transparency and organize campaigns for open, democratic societies with full citizen empowerment and participation in the government. We invite the students to take a quiz about the Right to Know, to check the Freedom of Information Laws in different countries, watch short documentaries on “right to know” advocacy globally and exercise the right to know on the spot by filing in an information claim.

Later in the afternoon, from 6:00 pm in the CEU Auditorium, Peter Molnar, Senior Research Fellow at CMCS welcomes you to the screening of Secrecy, a multiple award winning documentary about the invisible world of government. By focusing on classified secrets, the government’s ability to put information out of sight if it would harm national security, Secrecy explores the tensions between our safety and the ability to function as a democracy. A moderated discussion will follow the screening.

We look forward to seeing you!
