The Unbearable Ease of Misinformation – New E-Book by CMDS
The Center for Media, Data and Society has published its first e-book on the business of misinformation in Eastern Europe.
Misinformation is a lucrative business in several Eastern European countries, reliant on advertising revenue, and pulling in cash from a variety of other sources including government subsidies, crowdfunding, tax designations, donations and sales of merchandise.
The Business of Misinformation project, run by the Center for Media, Data and Society (CMDS), set out in its first phase to map the misinformation business in six countries: Bosnia & Herzegovina, Hungary, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, and Slovakia.
Our researchers identified the individuals and businesses that own local misinformation websites and their links to institutions, parties and other individuals.
Now you can read about their findings and detailed descriptions about the misinformation landscape in a new e-book, the first one ever published by CMDS.
“We are delighted to see the publication of our researchers’ work as the Center’s first e-book on Amazon. It is part of our strategy aimed at making our research as accessible and as useful as possible,” Marius Dragomir, the Center’s Director said.
